This cross is an exact replica of the first handmade rosaries made in Bethlehem. Its simple design dates back to many centuries ago when Christians first began making pilgrimages to Bethlehem and sought souvenirs to take back home with them. Therefore, this piece along with our Plain Olive Wood Cross and Plain Orthodox Olive Wood Cross created the olivewood handicraft sector in Bethlehem. NOTE: Holy Land Olivewood manufactures the beads and cross for this rosary in-house. We then deliver these materials along with string to individual households, where the elderly, poor and handicapped hand-string and package them for us in return for fair compensation. This process has been practiced by Holy Land Olivewood for nearly a century and allows us to give back to people of Bethlehem by ensuring that 28 needy households have a sustainable source of income.
